What do I use to seal a painted cement floor?

Our fairgrounds has a 60x100 ft building with a painted floor. The topcoat shiney finish was taken off by a professional cleaner. Now out of our budget money, what can we use to get a shiney topcoat back? And I'm guessing us "volunteer board members" will be the work crew! Thanks!

Probably not a job you want to try..it would have to be absolately clean and grease free. Then a clear epoxy cover would be spread over it.. the kits sold in the box stores usually last about a year or two at most. I would just learn to live with a good clean floor..and do not try waxing it..it will shine after buffing but you would have a ice skating rink if it gotany water on it..

  • Save your money and have professionally resurfaced - otherwise you are opening up yourself to trip and fall lawsuits by the boatload. That will cost way more than proper resurfacing.

Is there anything in the records that shows what was used as a top coat when it was originally done? The "professional cleaner" should have some responsibility in that they removed the finish. Check with the company that did this, perhaps if nothing else they will provide the product needed to redo it. It won't hurt to try. If you know what paint was used, I would check with a home improvement store to see what is the best to use, especially since it will need to be durable. Being it is a local fairgrounds, they may even help you out and know some more "volunteers" that will help. Good advertisement for their store! You could even put a sign up if they help you out.

Best wishes on this. Can you check with a skating rink, a bowling alley, and a school with a gym to see what they each use? 😇💖
