YOUR Best Thrift Store Finds

A week ago I had asked you to send me your BEST thrift store finds. I had fun reading about your thrift store finds and I am happy to share them here (anonymously), to inspire YOU to step into your local thrift store and see what YOU can find!
Here's some inspiration and motivation:I like to find name brand purses and flip them on E-bay. I got a Coach purse for $3.99 and a Burberry backpack purse for$8 (got $40 for it.) Carhartt clothing is a great find too.Got our daughter TWELVE hand blown Mexican wine glasses, like ours, that she grew up with and loved. Paid $10 total. They are over $20 retail each, IF you can find them. Best Christmas present!!! I desperately wanted a pewter lamp I'd seen in the Ethan Allen store, but it was $625! Dad said maybe we could find something in the thrift store. We went over there and found a wrought iron one that had lines very similar to the expensive one. I was bothered by all the layers of paint, but Dad said he would strip it for me and then paint it a metallic gray so it would at least look like the real thing. When he started stripping it, he found it really was pewter!! No painting allowed or needed. It has now been a valued piece for over 20 years, but I'll never forget the deal--or the time with my Dad.
Both my husband and I are keen Thrift Store shoppers (in theUK we call them Charity Shops).
We both buy lots of books from them (I read mine then donate them back) and get the occasional piece on clothing (I cant usually find much to fit me).
My best ever find was last November. I had a week off work and on my Birthday we decided to check out the charity shops in an area we don't usually shop at. I found a beautiful brown leather jacket in perfect condition that had just been put out on the rack. It is a great fit, has a beautiful silky lining and is very good quality and I love it. It cost ÂŁ10!!!!!! I think you will agree it was a fab birthday pressie.
I paid $5.99 (picture below of roller skates), from what I gather these can retail for about $49.99. Why did I buy them? They're skates in really great condition and it will be an excellent way to exercise and save me some $ on skate rental (which adds up). This is by far my favorite retail find so far.
If you have any others, I will just continue to update this post, as I find these "finds" to be jackpots in a thrift store! I have bought many clothing items, odd gadgets that you would pay a premium for in the store, and other old school board games, that I could not be more thankful for!
Happy thrift shopping!
Kristin
