ROCK IT! Make a Stunning Agate Jewelry Box

Have you noticed the latest trend in home decor? Rocks and minerals are popping up everywhere! They can be expensive to purchase, but if you know the right sources you can get this luxurious, high-end look for pennies on the dollar. Here's how I made a gilded edge agate jewelry box for $6, which is $89 less than retail!
I'd been oogling agate boxes online, but they cost $95 and up! I knew I could make it for much less, but was stumped as to where to get the materials.
Fate came together when I found both an agate slice for $6 and got an acrylic box for free (source list in blog post if you wish to purchase materials)
Other supplies include gilding paint, a paintbrush, and a glue gun, all of which I had on hand. That's it!
Gild the edge of the agate-- it's easier than it looks. Hold the agate in your hand to do this (I couldn't paint and photograph at the same time).
Let the agate dry, and then hot glue it to the lid of the box! EASY!
Now I have a showstopping jewelry box made for $6, and saved $89 in the process. Hmmm... maybe I could use my 'savings' to splurge on something to put inside, haha!
