Long-lasting Perennial and Annual Color in My Fall Garden

Fall can be a sad time for gardeners. Most of the plants have lost their blooms, the leaves and stems are drying out and it is very obvious that they are getting ready for their "long winter nap." So here I am, the first day of October enjoying the last of the beautiful colors in my garden. Take a look.
The black-eyed susans are all getting ready for winter now. I love the purple ageratum hybrid on the left! It has bloomed all summer and still blooming this fall- will definitely plant again next year!
st. john's wort blooming- tiny, bright yellow, feathery flowers
light pink flowers on this sedum
These petunias have flowered all summer long and are still going strong- I will definitely plant again next season!
Love this "mezoo trailing red" (dorotheanthus) with its tiny red flowers!
some of the day lillies are reblooming and adding bright spots of yellow to the fall garden
So surprised to see these bright red flowers reblooming on the maltese cross plant which blooms in early summer!
yellow mums
red blanket flower
tiny argyranthemum- the flower is actuallly a light pink although it looks white in the photo. I see several buds, so this flower won't be alone for long
love the russian sage- tall and wispy with tiny purple flowers- and lovely scent!
another view of the russian sage- rain drum behind it
two aster shrubs blossoming now- pretty purple flowers- So comforting to see before the winter arrives!

Your garden looks amazingly fresh for so late in the season.

@Douglas Hunt Yes it does. Many of the plants still have their leaves green. I give it a couple more weeks of this cooler weather and it will look a lot more like fall here.
