I love Autumn and look forward to the colors of the season. And I love when there is something like this that looks good in my house for 3 months at a time. This project was completely created using items I already had on hand and didn't cost me anything. To me that makes it even better!
I had 4x4 leftover wood scraps from another project. I also had orange and brown acrylic paints and brushes so I decided to make a trio of pumpkins!
I painted thin layers of orange onto the blocks. I liked the wood grain showing through but wanted it more rustic looking...
So I dry brushed some brown on....
And then decided to sand the edges a bit.
Next up I had my husband drill holes in the tops for pumpkin stems.
Drilling is the quickest and easiest I think but there can be other ways to attach a stem such as gluing one on.
It didn't need to be deep.
A branch that came down from the winds was cut to the right size and inserted in each pumpkin.
My branch stems fit snugly and didn't need glue but yours might.
Then I gathered a few fall leaves from another fall arrangement along with some burlap I had.
I used burlap strips to attach the leaves to the stem.
I really like the overall look. There are so many variations of the wood block pumpkins you could make.
This is another example of what could be done. My daughter chose to paint her branch stems green and tied her leaves on with curly twine.
I really like the end look of hers as well.

Another idea would be adding jack-o-lantern faces on one side and simply turning them forward during October then backwards during September and November. Or three word phrases such as Happy Fall Y'all. But this year we're enjoying these as they are now.

Looks beautiful and very seasonal. I have a question about your redesigned curio cabinet in the background. What did you use on the glass or did you change them out for something else? Thank you.
