Can someone help me out? painted my kitchen table with chalk paint but its showing too many brush streaks. to me it looks as if the paint is too thick. ive redone it 3 or 4 times. ive tried adding water and the spot i added the most water was surprisingly the best it looked. im at my wits end with this table. i havent distressed yet because the top just isnt suitable for a lighted dining room. any suggestions?

Chalk paint can be watered down for a smoother appearance but really is intended to show brush strokes for an old world appearance. You could give the entire top a thorough sanding which will help smooth it out. Enamel paint is a better choice if you want a super smooth finish.

@Chas Enamel paint does require sanding and priming unfortunately. Another trick to try is dipping your brush in water then into the chalk paint and that will help it spread. Just make sure you pour the paint into a dish so you don't contaminate your can. Air does cause chalk paint to thicken which may be contributing to your problem. Hope this helps.

@chas the best luck I've had w/ Chalk paint is i put it in a paint sprayer purchased for$20, then I mixed 1/4 c water to around 3 c paint. it looks more even then brush strokes.
