"Little Gem" is a terrific tree for the home landscape, Rikki. I like it so much I planted three! They've been blooming for awhile now and are still covered with buds. They should not get wider than 10 feet at maturity, so if you planted them so the centers are 8 feet from your house I think you'd be fine.

remember that it will still grow tall, but not huge like its parents.

    Rikki,

Little Gems are great!.....Douglas has it right!...Keep in mind that you want to shape them. So invision them at their full growth prior to planting. Here in FL...there are codes on how close trees can be to houses when built. If you comply....the sell of your house will not involve cutting down beautiful trees. Your gonna love your LIttle Gem!
