Entertainment Center Turned Play Kitchen

I purchased this old wood entertainment center from Goodwill and my husband and I repurposed it into a Play Kitchen for our granddaughters first birthday! The sink was a mixing bowl, the faucet was from a remodeled bathroom, and the counter top is stick-on faux marble floor tiles. CD's made the stove burners and white door pulls are the control knobs. We changed the placement of the hinges on the right door so it would drop down like an oven and the shelf inside came with our microwave but we never used it. Though you can't see it in the photos, the right side is painted in chalkboard paint. We had so much fun putting this together and just using our imaginations!
The After photo, complete with a table on the left made from a nightstand we never put together. The utensils are from Ikea, hanging on a key ring hook! The mirror is an old photo frame and plexi-mirror, for safety.
This is the Before photo, showing what the entertainment center looked like when we brought it home from Goodwill! It took an enormous amount of sanding to remove the glossy finish and get ready for paint!

We changed the location of the hinges so the door would drop down like a real oven. The shelf inside had come with our microwave but we never used it and it works perfectly here! A white basket fits under the sink to hold dishes etc.
Inexpensive frames and cardboard pictures, also from Ikea. The inside and left side of the kitchen are painted pink; the right side is totally chalkboard paint!

I LOVE it! I will have to get my husband to do something like this for our grandkids! Unisex of course because we have twin grandsons and a grandaughter all the same age. Thank you for sharing!

Great idea. There are so many entertainment centers in thrift shops that don't sell. I have seen them turned into something to hang clothes in but this is the best idea. All handy grandmas and grandpas would have a fun time making this for grandchildren.
