How do I repair my linoleum floor with large splits. One is at the back door, and two down the hall. I'm really not able to replace the floor, I'd like to keep it a little longer. Thanks for any help...

Here's an article that should help. They do use pieces of vinyl or linoleum for larger cracks. If you don't have any that matches your floor, maybe you could buy a square that would be close in color to do that kind of repair.

If the splits are caused from the linoleum peeling up in places, you should be able to add some adhesive under the curled area, then smooth the linoleum back into place. Use heavy objects like books, food cans, etc to weight the floor down where you added the glue. This will help hold it in place until it dries completely. If the splits are caused from areas that are missing linoleum, you may have to cut out a section and repair it by adding a new piece of flooring.

Hi. Try this if it is sheet linoleum. It is easy, not specific, but I only wanted a quick fix to get me through a time when there would be people in the house for a week or so, cause it looked bad, and there was not money to do a permanent or professional fix. If you can't find matching piece, then use a coordinating pattern in stick on linoleum squares. I thought it was high end. Figure out how many pieces you will need. The point is to make the repair space a little larger than the split, so just put the squares down to see what you need to cover the split. Use a pencil to outline the the space. Use a yardstick to make straight cuts with an exacto knife. (I think that's important) Pull up the split piece. Scrape the area, picking up residue. Use wood glue around the edges to keep them from coming up. Then just insert the squares in the space, and you are done. The only cost was the squares at $1.99 each. Should last about a year and counting.
