I can't imagine that will look right or be comfortable to sit on. Why not re-upholster the bench with some other fabric?

I painted a chair years ago. It looked pretty good, but was sort of stiff to sit on. I think you may find that products nowadays are much more sophisticated and they're saying it comes out nice and soft. I wish you luck, and let me know if you try it!

  • Absolutely! Or you can recover it in different fabric. If a bench those are generally an easy project.

If you can't recover it, then paint it with chalk paint.

Master bedroom had carpet that really was worn out . Had upcoming teen daughter with a slew of friends at all times.traded bedrooms so she and friends would have more space. Used paint/ water mixture and sprayed / rolled/ rubbed till there was a pattern that sort of worked out. She used it about 6 years and went to college. Had no problem with replacing with all the wax, nail polish. makeup and hairspray those girls added to it. A little stiff but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

There are two great products out there (and I have tried them ALL). Both are paint products, but what you do in between the coats of paint is key. The two paint companies are 1)Rethunk Junk by Laura and 2) Miss Lillian's No Wax Chock Paint. Both are on FB and PM me with any questions. Been painting furniture and upholstery for many years and I can tell you which products to stay away from:)

I see a lot more of people painting upholstery and carpet than in the "old days". I have read that it comes out nice. Worth trying. Good luck.
