. Hardy in zones 8 through 10, primrose jasmine is best pruned right after spring bloom since flowers appear on the previous year's growth. Cut older canes to ground level and newer growth to a strong outside bud, varying the lengths of pruned branches. Winter jasmine (J. nudiflorum) is one of the hardiest jasmines, growing from zones 6 through 10. This deciduous shrub blooms in midwinter. It reaches 3 feet wide by 7 feet tall. If pruning is needed to constrain the plant for size, cut off branches right after bloom is finished.
