How to get rid of musty smell

Now that it's getting colder I'm starting to switch over my winter and summer clothes. Everything I'm pulling out of storage, though, has that stale smell to it. Other than washing everything, any idea how to get rid of the smell?

have you tried putting dryer sheets when you store them and charcoal packs will absorb any moisture and help keep the musty smell down
Febreze for fabric.............
just hang them on a line in the garden in the fresh air, this should clear a lot of it. the rest you may have to wash
I would wash them. No chemical spray that just hides the underlying smell only to come back when the scent wears off.
Re-wash them in white vinegar,or hang them outside in fresh air. Do not cover up the odor with febreeze
