Can you shorten a farm house table?

    "Farm house table" tells us little. Everything depends on the construction of the table. How many legs does it have? Is it solid wood or laminated? Pictures would help. By "shorten" do you mean less tall or less long? .

    Don't do it! A beautiful rustic piece is very valuable left in tact. If you can't fit it into the house, that's different. If you just want to shorten it for a more intimate experience, forget it. If you have 4 to serve at a huge table, set up just one end of it.

      Reply to Askprincessvalerie.That's different. If it doesn't fit, it cannot be used. Check to be sure you don't have removable leaves. If not ask a local cabinet maker to check it out for you. People at Home Depot or Lowes will probably give you a couple of leads for craftsmen. To just cut it shouldn't cost a lot. Good luck
