I have an obsolete tv from the 70s that is housed in a standard cabinet of good quality heavy maple. Want to remove the tv and need some ideas for using the cabinet.

If you have a doggie, this is a cute idea. Though I wouldn't paint quality maple. http://www.hometalk.com/diy/craft/pet-stuff/doggie-bed-1247910

@Brenda, I thought it was the cutest idea so I thought I'd take a chance. Actually a cat would love it too. Mine are always getting inside something to take a nap.

I have one that I am using to help in the remodel of our kitche. It has a shelf below the space where a big tv goes..and two wonderful , sturdy drawers under it. I am going to add a shelf to the top..and use the bottom drawers for my pots and pans..and it will replace the microwave cabinet. It will be chalk painted, I am putting in ball bearing, soft close sliders and more shelves for storing baking sheets and cutting boards. The one I am using is 53 inches tall..I also thought about a coffee station..without a picture I do not know what use you could put to it.

I saw one at a moving sale that was being given away, and I so regret not finding room for it. If I had, it would now be a VERY upscale looking vanity for my bathroom. If you have the room in your bath, think about it. If it has side panels for speakers you can make hinged doors, same for the front 'screen', add shelves, etc.
