Hello — There is special paint that is used for fireplace tiles. Two examples are “Thurmalox Black Stove and Fireplace Paint” or “Behr Masonry, Stucco, and Brick Paint.” Check with your local paint store to weigh your options. Just be sure to clean your fireplace tiles before you begin.

If you mean ceramic tiles or slate tiles in a working fireplace, you must use fireproof paint, like for a wood burning stove. If the fireplace is non-working, choose any good quality gloss and in any color. If the tiles are on the floor, they will need a seal to make the color more durable. Best wishes in your choices. 😇

Do you mean in the fire box where the fire burns or the surrounding bricks/tiles? I'm painting the surrounding and slightly into the fire box with Rust-Oleum High Heat made for grills, wood stoves, etc.

I just painted my firebox. You will not find any high heat paint recommended for the inside of the firebox where you have direct flame. I even called Rust-oleum. All manufacturers of high heat paint recommend it only for the outside of grills, wood stoves where there is no direct flame. I ended up using Rust-oleum anyway as, although my fireplace is a working fireplace, I am not going to use it to burn wood.
