How can one make a picture with old keys, chains, etc

Maybe you could just attach them to old board wood cut to size, then add sticks around the edges to frame them? Add a wire on the back to hang it. Or maybe use a different backing like old fashioned wall paper on thin backing like they use behind cheaper bookshelves etc. and trim it with pieces of old fashioned molding to frame it. Or make a Stenciled backboard that says "History, the key to the future" and put all the keys on an older key ring or leather string boot lace, or your chain you have, and frame it all with a modern look molding pieces. Just some ideas.

Stick them on a backboard to any design that takes your fancy.........

My mom used to take a picture frame with out the glass and put a fabric that went with the décor in the room and put it on cardboard or thin wood and then glued an arrangement to what she wanted to put on it, whether it was keys, old fancy belt buckles, coins or whatever on it and they looked real good in the room. She used anything from burlap to felt to velvet to back the items she used.
