Don't use wire it will cut into the branch, rather use something broader based/ strap like. Pantihose, a broad piece of inner tube from a bicycle or car tyre! Good luck

Start with buying a wreath hanger. The craft store, or a department store has hangers for this type of project. If this is for a decoration for all year round, use a coat hanger, the kind the dry cleaner puts your clothes on. You can buy a hanger there.
