Why half the tree , it seems half dead?

I would have it checked out by an arborist to se if it has a disease or bug problem.
I agree with Nancy. If you have a county extension agent in your area, they will come out for free and check it out and advise you.
No need to check with a arborist. It does not require that. Check the tree for holes in the bark,fungus,insect holes in the leaves.What is your location so a recommended systemic can be given
