How much room do you have for a desk? If space is not terribly restrictive, your best bet is to visit a Habitat ReStore of other thrift or second-hand shop in your area. Building a desk from lumber will almost certainly cost more and require more skill and equipment.

You need just to go to elementary school, near you. Quickly you'll see too big, small. The chair attached or not. Stool separate at attached wood metal. Light nearbut separate. Off wall, window sill . I a great GRANNY. Merry Christmas.

Really you don't want to spend much. People give away old computer desks. (keep alert to the stuff people are giving away at the curb) Wood desks (student style, without tray for keyboard etc) can be had at a thrift store for $20.00 and under. Constructing something yourself will cost a lot more. Lamps as well, thrift store. If you don't already shop at one, you would be surprised. Most people shopping there are NOT poor. Remember the store is there to raise money for their cause, not for the poor, necessarily.

Not sure if this may help but this is a basic DIY desk plan. You could modify it to your needs. It's fairly easy to build plan, https://bit.ly/2qhzJjN
