Depends how cold your winters are. If your garage stays above freezing then they should be okay.
I live in Winnipeg Manitoba .my garage is not insulated. The plants are echinacea monarda and a chrysanthemum type native plant
The garage is attached to house. The plants are in a box next to the inside wall covered with newspaper
