Would anyone have an inexpensive easy, easy i stress, idea to camouflage the space in between my dining room and kitchen? I just kept a runner on it for years can't afford to do the floors. This is what it was like that when I bought the house and pulled the carpet up nobody can figure it out. Thanks for any suggestions.
Try to find a matching transition piece

and get enough pieces to do the whole room seam
You could also sand that real smooth, and temporarily put some wood tone contact paper down to match your wood floor
A small throw rug but my husband is a contractor he would probably charge you under $50 to fix that nicely look for a local contractor in your area that is known to many locals and you'll get a good deal that's the easy fix

Ask a flooring specialist to cut a threshold - marble or concrete would be a great transition
A really good place to find a local, good, contractor is to join NextDoor.com It's a website where the match you with others in your neighborhood so that you can exchange ideas. When I joined, I waited a week or so to see what kind of things people were posting. I was excited as people started asking for a good plumber or carpenter. I had been looking for a handyman for over a year and they either said they'd come and didn't or they came and never called back with a price. I tried HomeAdvisor.com but the person who took my call didn't want to "drive that far". We live in what's called the Southtowns, he lived about a 20 min drive away but for some reason people think the "Southtowns" if as far away as the moon. LOL Anyway, I asked at NextDoor.com for a handyman in the morning. I had someone suggest one he had used within an hour. I called the handyman, he called me back that night, came the next day to price the job and, due to a cancellation, came back the next day to actually do the job! Done from first contact to finished in 2 1/2 days!

Maybe paint it to match either one of the colors of the patterned part or a light color of the wooden floor?
