Can formica cabinet fronts be painted? If so, how and what do I use.

I'd clean with TSP & warm water, then prime with Kilz2, then paint with interior wall paint or cabinet paint of your choice. As a thought.......you could wallpaper the front of the cabinets with wallpaper that looks like bead board for a completely different look. Best of luck.

Good luck!
I bought some cabinets for my bathroom with formica doors back in 1985 and I LOVE THEM. They are as pretty today as they were the day I bought them.
Mine were white formica with light oak edging...so out of date...but I was not in the mood to renovate. So I painted the oak white, using some left over white paint. I had some beige paint so I put a few spoonfuls of that in some of the white paint to cut the sharpness of the white so it would match.
By adding handles, my cabinets are still beautiful...no scratches, no refinishing needed!
Here is a photo...I don't have a before photo.
