How can I save my Peace Lily?

Received Peace Lily 12 years ago when my Father passed. It thrived all of this time, and suddenly a couple of weeks ago it started looked unhealthy. What could be wrong? Thank you for your help. This plant is very important to me.

Is it wilting? They usually do when they need water. Check the soil to see if it's dry. If so, water it. It'll perk back up by the end of the next day. It may also need a bigger pot if this keeps happening.

    Good luck!

Could it be too much water?? When my plants start looking like they will be leaving me I take them out. replant with new clean soil. That usually takes care of the problem.

I presume you have this in the house, right? Keep it in the sunshine, and I would make sure all the dead leaves are taken off. Then, I would remove about 1" of the soil-or 2", and put in potting soil, from a good nursery. I think mine is Scotts., but I am not sure that is the right name. It is yellow, and they have been on the market for many yrs. Then after you put this soil in, give it a bit of fresh water. Give it time to rest, tho keep it in the sun, and all will be fine, when it is rested. Plants are just like us, we need rest too., ok? Best wishes, J.

If it’s in a pot and kept in your home, have you ever repotted it? If not it may be root bound. First I would check the foliage for pests. You can wash the leaves with soapy water to kill bugs. I would get a larger pot, potting soil and bulb food and then I would dump the lily out of the existing pot to check the bulb for size and firmness and make sure the soil is not soggy. I would also squeeze the bulb to make sure it‘s firm. If all is well with the bulb repot it in new soil with with bulb food per manufacturer instruction. If it the lily was moved to a different location I’d put back in its old home. If the bulb inspection found sogginess I would remove any soggy layers from the bulb as well as soft soggy roots Before reporting.

I'd repot in fresh soil also. Check the roots & cut away any that are slimy or rotting. (Don't believe there is a bulb--this isn't a true lily.) While spathiphyllums do wilt from lack of water they can be over-watered. Don't put in a huge pot or let it sit in a saucer of water for too long especially if you find rot problems. Be sure to use a good quality potting soil.
