Best way to kill poison ivy without damaging cypress tree

Poison ivy is growing beneath and within my beloved miniature hanoki cypress. I've untangled the long vines without cutting them and laid them flat. Suggestions on what to do next much appreciated.

You have to cut it down and pull it out. Using any chemicals,salt or vinegar with kill the Hanoki.
Make a mixture of bleach, water and mineral oil. Put it in a spray bottle and spray it on the vones of the poison ivy. This will kill the vine going all the way to the root. As new vines pop up, spray them. Eventually, you will find less and less of the vines growing.
Hello. You can try to put black plastic over the poison ivy to kill it.
Cut them to about 2 inches from the ground. Make a paste of salt and warm water. Add a dash of dish soap. Put on a paper towel and cover the 2 inch vine. Wrap plastic wrap tightly around the towel and secure with duct tape. This will completely kill the vine.
Ortho also makes a great ivy killer. I have used it beside both a lilac and a crape myrtle and the ivy is gone with no harm to anything else. I prefer not to touch that stuff!
