Ok to replace floors in kitchen even if I may replace cabinets later

    Hello. You can replace the floor without doing the cabinets. If you do decide to replace the cabinets you will have to make sure the new ones would be the exact size of the old ones. Another idea is to get extra flooring so if you do replace the cabinets at a later date you can replace the floor under the cabinets.

    It depends what you want to put on the floor. If you are going with wood or wetbed grouted tile, I'd hold off because that will raise the level of your floor in a measurable amount. If you are thinking about sheet goods I would also suggest holding off. If you are thinking of vinyl tiles, OK, just buy extra.

    Yes, many people remodel kitchens in sections, not all at once.

    We put in the floors first and then painted our cabinets a few years later. The key for us was to take our time and bring home paint samples to see what worked best with our floor and wall colors. After about a month we found the right shade of green.
