If you like color, bring it in with the furnishings and accessories. Throws, pillows, lamps, art. Or have a statement chair or sofa that sets the tone and color scheme.
We went with neutral colors on the walls and big pieces of furniture. Added color with throw pillow, vases and pictures. Try to keep your accent colors limited to the same few shades. Example, gray furniture accented with orange, biege walls accented with yellow. But keep the accents to a miminum or they become overpowering and no longer accents of pops of color.
