What is the best water softener to buy for hard well water?

I would prefer to get a filter one, as I don't want to carry salt across my basement. And would like to know the best and simplest one to take care of.

Rather than go through all that, why not get a filter cartridge that screws on to the pipe coming into your house from the well. My neighbor has one for her well and it is so easy to change out.

We have two softeners...one is magnetic and the other is electronic. Prior to these, we had the salt type which was a real pain. The idea of the magnetic is that it changes the polarity of the minerals so they don’t stick to the inside of the pipes. The electronic does the same thing. We have both because our water is very hard. In addition, we have a whole house filter, but this does not filter out minerals. We have a well. You can check in Home Depot or Lowe’s for the various filters. The electronic softener requires nothing once it is hooked up...neither does the magnet. The electronic softener costs about $350. and the magnet was about $100.00. Hope this helps!

    Reverse Osmosis is the best.
