Absolutely, exactly what I was going to say. Rip it out and don't replace it with more carpet. Look at vinyl plank flooring or linoleum. Both come in many colors.
With as many drips and spills as you get I can't imagine any kind of carpet in the kitchen (or bath).

indoor outdoor carpet is cheap enough. I'd just replace it. To paint over the dirt, even if vacuumed seems yucky.
