I have an unfinished basement that I would like to modernize over the winter. I would like a wet bar and a game room and room for storage.

Make a list of everything you want done including materials. For example: Oak paneling, multiple electrical outlets, drop ceiling, etc. Call for free written estimates from HomeDept, HomeAdvisor, local ads, etc. Compare

    prices and materials and decide.

I would suggest joining http:///www.NextDoor.com . This is a website divided into neighborhoods. You put in your zip code and it connects you with others who live close by. Once you join, you can ask your neighbors who they recommend. I know others suggest Homeadvisor.com, but when I tried them, the person who called me didn't want to come that "far". I was maybe a 20 min drive away. I live in what's called the "Southtowns" and for some reason people think that means far, far away - even though it's really not that far. Next Door worked great for me. After looking for a year, I had my job done in 3 days! Best of luck.

  • You need an interior designer and then a contractor to execute the design.

Go online to Home Advisor.com, and put in the type of work you need done. These people are screened, you can choose from about 3-6 different contractors. Make sure you sign a contract, for the entire job, how long it will take, and give a deposit of 1/3. to 1/2 of the total job.
