Whitewash lightly, here and there. Are your walls log? If not, paint your walls a lighter brighter color, your choice. Add greenery, large plants to your floor area and small to medium plants to the mantel, all sizes....they can be real or faux. Whitewash some logs and stack them on the hearth. Change your lamp shades, go lighter or find shades in colors or with scenes on them. Brighten your sofa with a lighter solid color or a bold colorful design. Area rugs are great, change out for a fresh look. Drapes, wash them or replace, add contrasting tie backs. Add lighting: tall floor lamps, table lamps, spotlights, wall lights, many choices available. Get brave, go for it, have fun decorating!
