It has collapsed where all the branches are on the ground. the main trunk appears to have rotted. Is there anyway to say this plant?

I would cut off/remove all the rotted parts of the plant (do not put in your compost pile) and see if you get any new shoots coming from the roots next spring. When I had several along a fence I had trouble keeping the new shoots in check.

Rose of Sharon is a very easy plant to propagate so take several cuttings and use root hormone place the cuttings into sand, vermiculite & potting soil mix and by next year you should have a new shrub for yourself. Please protect the cuttings from the cold Kansas weather. Kent
