What material and how do I recover large ironing board?

it has silver warn out cover, I'm thinking it needs more batting? What material will allow it to look refreshed?

Definitely invest in a new pad and cover set. There are many pretty patterns and you will aslso be able to find another silver one. Target, Wal-Mart, Bed Bath & Beyond, have nice selections!
cotton batting may help...irons will melt the polyester batting.
