Hello Celeste! Here is what the Farmer’s Almanac says about getting rid of cut worms:

A shotgun! Well, no but I sure want to! I know that cardboard collars work but if you have a big garden this is a lot of work. You make a tube out of cardboard (can use paper towel or toilet paper rolls), cut it open and place it around the stem. This keeps them from getting to the base of the plant. One of my all-around go-to products is diatomaceous earth. It's very finely ground up fossils that kills many things - I use it for slugs and fleas. It's safe for people and pets as it's not poisonous (be sure to buy the food grade one). You sprinkle it around and on the plants. This isn't a "kill them on the spot" product but it's quick in that it'll take a couple of days. My hosta used to get eaten alive by slugs and this (DE for short) helped that immensely. I feed some outside cats on our well house and the slugs were a big problem - this helped with them too and I didn't have to worry with the cats getting it on their paws as it's perfectly safe for them. This past summer we had problems with fleas in the house (cats and dogs both) and I sprinkled this on the floors pretty liberally. I left it for 3 to 4 days then vacuumed it up (since it's a fine powder you do have to dust everything after this) and it helped get them under control. You can even powder your pets with it if you can I use an old baby powder container with a sprinkler top and it works like a charm.
