Do I need to take my thyme inside for the winter?

  • Where do you live? If in ground my friends that live where it snows just let them be and most of them pop back up in the spring. If in a pot it couldn't hurt. Mine stay out year round.

    If you are located in a cooler climate, then yes.

    It could come back if it is in the ground, if it is in a pot it will definitely not survive without going in the house.

    I live in southern Ontario and my Thyme (IN the garden) comes back every year. However, if it’s in a pot, I’d bring it in for the Winter. Or if you have a garage, you could try keeping it there ... but in very cold spells, I’d probably wrap the pot in many thicknesses of newspaper to help insulate the pot.
