I just moved into a senior living apt complex. The fridge looks brand new, but everything gets that nasty smell/taste. I washed with vinegar, then made a baking soda paste and let it sit. It still smells like that despite two open boxes of baking soda in there.

We have exposed pipes in our basement laundry room, painting them the wall color helped As well as disguise the manufactures printing and purple glue on the pipes.

Can shorter depth -baskets or bins help hide the pipes?

You could try charcoal. Place the charcoal (like what you use to BBQ) in the fridge and leave it in there. It might take a week or two for it to work completely. In the meantime, leave the doors open. If you keep them closed, smell most certainly will not go away. If all else fails, get in touch with your building's management.

I use Clorox clean-up in mine. After leave door open for a little while to air out. Then use your baking soda boxes.
