If you're short on storage, take advantage of under bed space. Tall beds make for great storage space.
Shoshana is right. I have even cut down very sturdy boxes so I can slide them under. Lightweight plastic shelving helps, too. I like these you get at big box stores.
I hung a 6 inch shelf all the way around the room...one ft. Down from ceiling. Have done this in several rooms.
What exactly is your problem with two small bedrooms?
