Speak to Just above the heads of the whole audience. Use small Prompt cards to hold. Speak Clearly and slower than you normally do, to allow the sound to travel, and allow for reaction . Announce yourself (if not done for you) an your Topic. Finish by thanking everyone for their attention.

Project your voice as if you are speaking to someone who is in the back row. That way, there is more of a likelyhood that everyone in all the rows before the back row will hear you. If there is a microphone system available to you, make use of it! Your audience will appreciate it.

While it is natural for everyone to favour one side over the other, try to vary your eye contact to everyone all around the room, in the corners, and on both sides of the centre.

If there is any way that you can enter the room beforehand to practice, take this opportunity. Enlist a friend to help you as a practice audience member, to give you feedback on clarity and speed of voice, and body posture.
