How do you apply wall paper or decorative stickers on textured walls?

I have very deep textured walls. I love some of the removable sticker wall art out there, but every time I try to get any to stick they just will not because of the texture prevents it from clinging on smoothly. Any ideas, short of putting it on canvas and hanging as a picture, or sanding the walls UGH that would be ALOT of work.

Could you use clear plastic sheets to put them on and use some kind of tacks to put it up?

You could sand just the spots where you want to apply the stickers. 😆

I see you are in the south-west. Yes, textured walls are common in this part of the country. Unfortunately this texture finish it is very hard to remove, or to make flat enough to allow a seal for wall stickers. This is because the texture is an effect of paint and how the paint is applied. It is not simply a texture that has been sprayed-on similar to popcorn ceilings, which is possible to scrape off.

The paint has been applied to and has bonded with the drywall, so in order to have smooth, like brand new walls, the drywall with the textured paint finish will have to be removed in entirety, replaced with new drywall, then painted with conventional painting methods.

Even sanding will not remove the textured paint finish without risk to damaging the drywall. It will be next to impossible to try to sand only the area and shape of the wall stickers without having the whole wall look like a botched mess.

I would not put them directly on the walls.what if you get tied of them.....Mount them on some other material and than hang
