I love, love, love creating Fall decor!! I had so much fun making this DIY fall craft using log slices. It was so simple to make. Other than paint drying time, it was super fast and easy to put together, too. If you painted the wreath form the day before, you could easily complete this project in less than an hour.
Using a foam brush, paint the entire craft form black. Don't forget the inside and outside edges. Tip: You're using black paint here...be sure to thoroughly cover work surfaces! If necessary, add a second coat. Let dry.
Using a hot glue gun (I love my Ryobi cordless hot glue gun!), add enough glue to the back of each wood slice to adhere it to the wreath. Continue around the circle until you get back to where you started.
Now, glue a second layer all the way around. Repeat a third time, too. The object is to center each slice on the line where the slices underneath meet. Obviously, you're working with natural products, and there will be no perfect lines. Just do the best you can to make them symmetrical.
Next, I embellished by adding a burlap bow and some faux natural pieces. I cut off the stems of each wreath pick with wire cutters and glued them to the wreath, and then added some berries and straw sprays to add dimension. (You can check out a more detailed tutorial of attaching the embellishments on my 30 minutes to Beautiful DIY Fall Decor post.)
Voila! The finished product is perfect! Log slices are really fun to work with.
