Yellow leaves generally indicate a watering issue, but it's also possible you overfetilized them. The third issue is temperature. I'm not sure how warm it is has gotten there, but in areas where it gets hot, petunias are a cool-season plant and generally decline as the temperature increases.

I showed this picture to a bunch of grower friends and the general consensus is that your petunias need iron. This may be from over watering as Douglas Hunt suggests. The stickyness is a natural thing for Petunias. It was also suggested that you check for aphids on the underside of the leaves.

I'd pinch them back and fertilize.

When you water....does it run through pretty quickly? Sometimes if they get too dry, you need to set them down into a sink, or large bowl of water for a few hours to give the plant and soil time to soak up as much as it wants. Try doing that 2-3 times a week.

Aphids commonly attack petunias and can be causing the stickiness. Try soapy water spray or a bottle of greenfly spray. Those brown leaves just need to be trimmed away. I supposed there is plenty of soil there for those plants is there? And a bit of fertiliser?
