Need advice for this plain white cabinet

This is wood that has been painted white and I put the gold knobs on it for a change. Now my bathroom is a sandy beige color with blue decor. See pictures. I am so open. I've so many ideas that I cannot settle on just one. I'm in the mood to paint and decorate!

@Lori Kelly, First, I would replace the gold knobs with either sculpted glass, or mercury glass knobs. I would paint the cabinet a latte color and then either mod podge the inserts on both doors and drawer with either paper or cloth to match the framed prints. If you don't like using a print, then a more minimal idea, would be to put three gradient sizes of blue/brown butterflies down the front of each door. Maybe you could place the pictures on your copier and photo copy some of the elements to glue on your cabinet. You could also glue music or book pages on the doors, or glue a pretty poem on the doors.

You can find printable designs are The Graphic Fairy .com. Print on wax paper. Wet area and use credit card to press ink into the dyed paint. She even has a tutorial and a web site to go to to make pictures bigger.

I agree with Frankieh and definitely change the knobs. After you paint wax it good with a dark wax, but not where you are going to mod podge. I think it would be lovely.

@Lori Kelly, if you use the dark wax as Patricia mentioned, that will give it a sort of antique finish. That would probably be better than distressing in my opinion. Also, be sure you paint the top the same color as the sides. You could modge podge printed paper on the top if you like. Don't bring the print all the way out to the edge, but leave about a one inch border of paint. I would prefer leaving the top plain and then put a big flat basket, or large silver tray on top, filled with apothecary jars, etc..

I have a vase of the same color flowers and same type in a clear vase with blue glass beads to sit on the stand. I keep everything in my bathroom closet which is quite large. I'm lucky.

I would paint the cabinet a soft aqua and replace or paint the knobs black. Making sure the aqua is compatible to bring out the picture

I definitely think you should paint it. The color you choose will need to allow it to flow into the rest of the color scheme of that room. One way to match it to your framed art is to decoupage the door & drawer inserts with anaglypta paper. Its a textured wallpaper that has been used for decades to give a dimensional look. It's often used to look like the decorative tin on ceilings and there are so many patterns to choose from should be able to find one that works well with you framed art. I'm not certain of the cost but you won't need much so I would check with some retailers and see if they have any end rolls you can by. For the insets with this paper, a metallic paint would be a good choice. There are lots of techniques shown in Hometalk for working with the new metallic paints and you can achieve an upscale and aged look to match the two framed pieces.
