I would like to know a unique way to remove contact paper from my kitchen cabinet shelves that has been there a long time. I want to replace with the waffle type that will just lay on the shelves/\.

I would try heating it with a heat gun to soften up the old adhesive and use a plastic putty knife to scrape it off. Be careful using the waffle type. We used it for years and when we tried tup pull it up, it left small pieces stuck and we had to scrape it off. You might want to go to the dollar tree and purchase some vinyl placemats and cut them to size and just lay on your shelves. Easy to clean and easy to remove.

The placemats seems like a great way to go. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer.

Have you tried to slowly peel an edge and see if it'll pull up? If that doesnt work, then I'd peel up an edge and use a razor blade to peel it away and if that doesn't work You have at least a srart and now I'd make a mixture of lemon essential oil and apple cider vinegar and water. Get a small wash cloth or smaller and dip in mixture and put it on the edge you have peeled up and soak and slowly peel away or use the blade. It may take time but the lemon will help break down the glue.

Use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive doing a small area and peeling away. Worked for me.
