You have to remove the caulk, clean and kill the mildew with white vinegar, allow to dry and re caulk with a moisture proof sealant for bathrooms

You can try spraying vinegar on there and leaving it for a few hours before scrubbing it off with a little baking soda and water. If that doesn't work, you can try dabbing on a little bleach. Sometimes that doesn't work either - in which case what i have done is just spread a new layer of sealant (white silicone) over the old.

I suggest carefully remove the sealant and re-seal it with new, silicone sealant.

Have you tried spraying with undiluted bleach? Let it sit for a while before rinsing. It may take a few applications to get rid of the black gunk.

I find that bleach and water (3 to 1 ratio) works great. Use a spray bottle and just spray it on and let set for about 15-30 minutes and spray with hot water and then clean off Bleach residue with any bath room cleaner.

  • Wipe down with vinegar. Then rinse. It will kill the mold spores.

Sounds like you may have mold. Try CLR which is environmentally safe and made specially for mold. A bleach solution will also kill the mold. Be sure to wear gloves.
