I'd like suggestions for how to use single track metal shelf brackets

I have 10" deep glass shelves and would like to use 10" single track brackets for supports. The problem is that they are metal and the glass may slide and chip. So the question is to find something that can be put on the brackets to prevent sliding. All the plastic 'dots' that you use for glass table tops seem unfeasible. Any suggestions? The 'correct' brackets are just way too expensive.

You could try velcro. It can be cut in any shape or size you want.

Put a strip of flannel on the top of the bracket then set the glass shelf on it.

I would use a marker on the top side to trace the bracket. On the underside, using the outline on the top side, put some clear silicone within the marks. This should keep the glass from rubbing an should also grab the glass and keep it from sliding. Use alcohol to remove the marker lines from the top and it should be ready. You can use as thick or thin of a coat as you need.

They make little felt protectors and sell them on a big card, I see them at True Value. Myself I like the little silicon dots.

Wow, all three ideas sound like they would work. Nancy, how spot on original you are. It wouldn't be so 'obvious' and noticeable through the glass. Think I'll give it a try.

    Thank you, all!

I looked at the silicon dots but they don't seem too secure for a thin width piece of metal. Thank you for your thought. :)
