Can you use vinegar to wash window? What amount to water?

I use a cup of vinegar to a quart of water, wash with a squeegee then wipe dry with a micro fiber cloth from WalMart automotive department. They are wonderful for wiping the inside of your car windshield too. No streaks! And they are cheap!

In a spray bottle, mix 50% distilled vinegar (white) and 50% tap water. For extremely grimy glass, prewash with very soapy water, then go to the vinegar spray.

The vinegar will cut any soapy residue that is left if you use any soapy water. My mom always used ammonia water to wash and vinegar water to rinse and had sparkling windows. Of course my mom was also a person who had a spotless house at all times and you could eat off of any surface, it was that clean. I always had about an hours work of chores to do each day when I got home from school and about four hours each day of the weekend to help her.

1/2 pail of warm water to about 1/2 cup vinegar is all you need. As long as you do not wash the windows in the hot sun, they should dry streak free. The windows I can reach I wipe off with a cotton towel.

Mix equal parts water and distilled white vinegar. Use a clean cloth and do not clean the window in the sunshine directly on it. If they are greasy, prewash with warm soapy water first, then do the vinegar/water mixture with a soft clean rag.

I believe my mother mixed vinegar and watered down ammonia all in one step. She only used newspaper print to wipe it down. She had beautiful windows. My husband worked in a gas station back-when and says the newspapers are the ONLY thing to use for cleaning windows.

I would use 1" of vinegar, to 6" of water. One more great idea, is to wash and dry the inside windows, with drying your windows, in a stroke in one direction, then clean the outside part of that same window, with a diff. stroke. When you are done, if there is a error, you will know which side to do again. This really works, very well. Best wishes, J.

B- did you also know that vinegar can also help you set the colors, or patterns in a new blouse, or shirt? I use a pail, and put in 1" vinegar, and fill up the pail with luke warm water. If by morning, it has bled of colors, empty it, and do it again, and you may have to do this 3 times. But, each time you are setting the colors. When this is totally done, THEN, and only THEN, you can begin to use, and then wash by machine. You will be amazed at how diff. the clothes will look. J.
