The best way to store sliced mushrooms is to take them out of the package and put them in a paper bag. With a little luck, they will dry out instead of turning slimy. Once they dry out, store them in a plastic bag. To use them simply rehydrate. They will still have that great flavor and you won't be throwing them out.
I give all my produce a 5 minute bath in 1 quart of water mixed with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Then rinse with clear water and pat dry. I store them in zip lock bags. Mushrooms usually last at least 7-10 days whether sliced or whole.
Mushrooms in my area are sold by the OUNCE. 8 ounces = 8 ounces whether they’re whole or sliced. I take them out of the store container and put them (unwashed) into a brown paper lunch bag and store them in the fridge.
Take them out of their containers and pat dry. Clean their container with soap and water. Dry. Line with paper towels put in enough mushrooms to cover the bottom, put another towel on top, add another layer, paper, etc. They need to be dry, dry, dry. Last quite a while.
Mushrooms are sold by the ounce and I am pretty picky when choosing them. Store in paperbag in refrigerator and if you have to wash them, do so just before using. Here are a couple links.

Buy whole ones and slice them as needed. It doesn't matter if you get more if they go bad faster!
