Laundry room interesting ideas appreciated

Hi all,
My wife and I are moving the laundry room from the kitchen to where an old towel closet used to be. We have torn down the old closet and the bathroom next to it and are reframing. Problem is, due to the layout, we have a max of 30" between the jack studs for where the stackable laundry will be. We can't make it bigger and even had to cut out a jack stud from the bathroom door which is framed right next to the laundry door. We will use header hangers instead. We have 27" washer/dryers.
I had the idea of simply buying a cabinet type door to save space and installing it to the stud after drywall. I can screw in a small piece of wood to the wall and install the cabinet door hinge on that. I can also do 2 doors where they open in the middle. I would of course put an HVAC vent up top. The washer dryer are electric.
Anyone have any great ideas? Is there a problem I'm not seeing here?

where is your drain going to be? It is good to have it and your shut offs near the front where you can access them without moving the washer/dryer. Also the electrical outlet.

It is good if the floor slopes very slightly toward the front so water, spilled soap, etc. don’t run underneath the machines.

The two doors sound nice (they will not protrude as far into the room as a single door, but consider where you will be storing your laundry supplies. Will the door just open ninety degrees or will they fold back flat. If they fold flat, will they/it cover the cabinet where your detergent is kept?

i have a similar set up with no door in front of the washer, but the cabinet door opens away from the washer. It’s a small but irritating nuisance.

It sounds as if you have some great ideas. To make the little space look larger, I’m sure you know to paint everything in one or two light colors. See if you can find a place for a mirror, even on the back of a door. On the hinged cabinet door, you can mount a cute laundry sign or painting so that is what as seen when the cabinet door is “closed”. By hanging cabinet doors, you will give the impression that cabinets are present. Be sure to have space for detergent and other supplies, even if you have to fold clothes in another room. I hope you will take photos of the work you are doing, then write a post for Hometalk.com. Best wishes 😇

Maybe forget the doors and use a tension rod, hang long towels or burlap as curtains or use plain or patterned material for a slide drape or curtains. Just fold over the towel or material top(s) and sew, insert rod. Would that work?
