get the best you can afford when you need to use it. I have a black and decker jig saw, a craftmans dril, and a pile of mismatch brand names. They fit my hands and don’t fati ge my muscles when I use them. That makes the best for me.

I think if you purchase any of the major brands..... Makita, DeWalt, Ryobi, Ridgid, etc; as power tools, they will serve you well, and give you satisfaction. Additionally, Ridgid has a lifetime warranty on their power tools, which might be something to consider. Many of the hand tools that are currently available also have a lifetime replacement warranty

It all depends upon what you want to do with the tools. If you are going to build a house or remodel, you need heavy duty tools - if it's just small stuff, most will do. Google "best battery powered saws" to find the best saws. Do the same with other tools. I would suggest a tool box...

  • There are many great answers here already. I am not fond of battery powered tools so think about how you will use the tool before you buy it... batteries run dead and they need to be replaced; they are not as powerful as electric or gas powered tools. Everyone needs basic tools like a hammer, screw drivers, pliers, etc. A basic tool kit makes a great shower present because people need these tools just to hang pictures or do simple projects. Add a basic electric drill to the set and this covers most people's needs quite well. But how you will use the tools determines what you need to buy. I know you are looking for brand names and several people have made great suggestions.
