As birdbaths are shallow, would that be a problem?

Do you mean this post? http://www.hometalk.com/diy/upcycle/3-beautiful-birdbath-planters-3326474 In the comments, @Three Dogs in a Garden in a garden explains that she puts an inch and half of pea-size gravel in the bottom of the bird bath, then mounds potting soil on top. Of course this is also a great way to use a cracked bird bath that no longer holds water, turning that into an advantage.

i would say drill a hole in the bottom. That also depends on what your bird bath is made of,More info or a picture would help. good luck please show pics of it when your done.
