Does it work? Do you plan to repurpose it? If it's a working radio that you plan to use, there's no reason not to paint it a bright color that would add interest to a room or counterscape. If you are going to repurpose it, you can still paint it. Either way, I'd go dark and light: choose two paint colors, one for the radio and one for the stencil, and do the stencil in just the one color.

I have a radio just like this one - if you paint it I want to see how it turns out!

I would prefer to see the natural wood on this classic item. If the finish is dull I'm certain it would not take much to make it look good again.

No way! It is a classic and some things are so much better left as is. It is a beautiful radio and a beautiful antique.

I would not paint it. Just think, in a few more years this thing could be priceless! But it belongs to you to do with as you please.

NO, please don't paint this, it would lose all the flavor or ambiance!!!

There are a lot of objects I would paint however, I would not paint this radio. Whether it works or not, I would leave it as is. It is a beautiful piece! If there are scratches you would like to repair, use a vinegar and canola oil rub.

I would vote no if it still works, just touch up finish.... and yes if it was broken and you were going to turn it into some type of cool looing re-purpose! Soooo No!

I don't think that it should be painted either...clean and wax it...enjoy the natural wood...

I would not. This is classic. If you don't like the look of it, sell it. These old radios are treasured by some. My husband and brother both have similar radios and they love them.

We're re-doing our living room, dining area and kitchen in Mid-Century Modern. My Bubba found an almost identical radio. I am a big fan of paint but not on this radio. It could be worth something "someday".

Please, No! This is a fine piece as it is, already a collector's item, to paint would drastically reduce its value and couldn't possibly improve it..I see examples of painted radios often, most people who have them want to restore them back to the way they were before...touching up the original finish, IMO is the best way to go..

Use 'Old English' scratch cover polish to hid the little nicks. This is a lovely piece and there is no reason to paint it.

Painting will destroy the value. Collectors want all the scratches, dings, and original finish so I wouldn't even use a cleaner. It will destroy the "patina."
